Natural remedies for sunburn

Vinegar
It can be used in several ways: either you spray vinegar straight on the affected skin or put some towels imbued with vinegar on your skin or have a bath after you put 2-3 cups of vinegar into the water. You may use apple vinegar but rose petal vinegar and lavender vinegar are more efficient.

Tea
The tannic acid from tea is an excellent remedy against sunburn. Use compresses with cold tea, obtained from 4-6 tea bags. Keep the tea bags after taking them out from tea, let them chill down until they reach the room temperature, and apply them on the affected skin. You can also have a bath after you put 6-7 tea bags into the water.

Milk
Milk compresses are very efficient. A relaxant bath after you add 3-4 liters of milk into the water is an excellent remedy against sunburn. The old method with yogurt facial masks is efficient. Just apply the yogurt on affected skin.

aloe vera
Gels and creams with aloe vera temper very quickly the pain caused by the sunburn. It is indicated to keep aloe vera leaves into your fridge.

Oat flour
A 30 minutes bath in cold water, in which you added two cups of oat flour, could be a good remedy. You can mix eggs and oat flour and obtain a natural cream. Apply it on the sunburn.

Aerated salt
Take a 30 minutes bath in warm water, in which you added two cups of dissolved aerated salt. You can also spray a solution obtained from ¾ water and ¼ aerated salt on the affected skin.

Essential oil
Lavender oil and camomile oil have the most efficient effects. Add a few drops of oil into a spray with water and spray on your affected skin. Also, you can add 10-12 oil drops into the bath water. Use it carefully with children. Beware of eye contact. Do not ingest the oils.

Corn starch
There are several ways of corn starch usage in order to temper sunburn pain:
-cream – mix corn starch with water
-solution – mix corn starch with water
-a bath – dissolve a cup of corn starch or ½ a cup of corn starch + ½ a cup of aerated salt in the water
-after you clean your skin with warm water put corn starch straight on your sunburn

Cucumber
Apply some cucumber slices on affected skin. If you want a stronger effect peel the cucumber and mix it with milk then apply the solution on your skin.

Potatoes
Fresh peeled potatoes applied straight on your skin have a benefic effect.

Eggs
It is well known that raw eggs, applied on skin, make miracles. You could also mix two eggs with a spoon of honey and a spoon of hamamelis leaves.

Honey
It is an excellent pain killer if you apply it on your skin. Such effect also has the solution obtained from 4/5 honey and 1/5 lemon juice or1/2 honey and 1/2 milk.

Tomatoes
The solution obtained by mixing ¼ a cup of tomatoes juice with 1½ a cup of buttermilk is an excellent pain killer. Also, you can apply slices of tomatoes straight on your skin or add 2 cups of tomatoes juice in your bath water.

Mustard
You can use mustard to reduce your pain. It is preferably to choose mustard with no spices.

Pickle
Pickle sauce compresses are efficient against unpleasant effects of the sunburn.

Strawberries
Mashed strawberries are an efficient remedy to calm your skin.

Water
Cold water compresses and ice cubes calm the affected skin very efficiently. To improve the effect, add ¼ a cup of lemon juice into the water and spray on your skin. Drink much water to hydrate your burnt skin.

Cacao butter
Apply on affected skin for hydration and calming.

Infusion
Use these plants for infusion: lettuce, cabbage, mint, plantago, strawberries leaves.
